Application Incomplete Notices: April 1, 2026. Incomplete Application notices sent via emails and text messages.
Application Window Closes: April 30, 2026 All 7 documents must be received and approved by our Scholarship Administrator.
National College Decision Day: May 1, 2026 Potential students required to accept a university's offer for admission.
Scholarship Award Notification: May 7, 2026 Award Notification emails and text messages sent to scholarship winners.
Award Accept/Decline Deadline: May 14, 2026 Scholarship winners must accept or decline their scholarship award.
Award Sent to Your University: No later than June 1, 2026

If you need help downloading the application, you may contact your scholarship counselor at your high school or contact our Scholarship Coordinator (see Contact Us below)
Complete the Scholarship Application and email your application to KJAS2026@gmail.com
Note: The Scholarship Application contains “active” data entry fields where you can type your information directly into the form. If the active fields are not highlighted, click/tap on any data entry field to activate the form.
Alternatively, you may print this PDF document, write your information into the application form, scan this document (PDF format) and email it to KJAS2026@gmail.com
Once we receive your completed Scholarship Application Form, we will create your scholarship folder where we will start collecting your other supporting documents
Start emailing the 7 additional "required" application supporting documents to KJAS2026@gmail.com as soon as possible.
Important: All 7 supporting documents (listed below) must be RECEIVED and APPROVED by our Scholarship Administrator no later than the "Application Window Close" date. Any "missing", "pending review" or "not approved" documents in your scholarship folder on the day the Application Window Closes will automatically disqualify you from receiving an award so please get all your documents submitted and approved as soon as possible.
Supporting Documents

Your Resume (PDF Format). Please include (with dates): work experience, community service, extra-curricular activities, awards received, etc.
Your one-page essay (PDF Format) of your career and life goals and why you should be considered for this scholarship
Your College Admission Offer Letter from one 2-year or 4-year College or University (PDF Format)
Your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) cover page (PDF Format) showing the estimated amount of your Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Loans and your Student Aid Index (SAI)
From your High School Transcript Department:
Request your high school transcript office to email your latest transcripts (PDF Format) to KJAS2026@gmail.com (with or without your senior year grades)
From your 2 Recommenders (teacher, administrator, church leader, etc.)
1st Letter of Recommendation (on institutional letterhead in PDF format) emailed to KJAS2026@gmail.com
2nd Letter of Recommendation (on institutional letterhead in PDF format) emailed to KJAS2026@gmail.com
Note: All of the above applicant information are considered "Personal and Confidential" and will never be shared with anyone or any organization outside of the Scholarship Committee.
Application Processing Status
Applicants will be notified of the progress of their application via email and text from our Scholarship Administrator. Processing status will be one of the following:
Your completed Application Form has been received and approved.
Your Application Package is Incomplete: We are waiting for the following documents: …
Your Application Package is now Complete: All documents have been approved. Final review has started.
Thank You for submitting your application. Unfortunately, you were not selected to receive one of this year’s scholarship…
You’re our 1st Runner-Up Candidate. If one of our finalists decline their scholarship, you will be notified.
Congratulations! You have been selected to receive one of this year's $5,000 Kawamoto Family Scholarships.
Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award via email and text message no later than the Scholarship Award Notification date listed above.
Scholarship recipients will have 7 calendar days after the email/text award notification to officially "Accept" or "Decline" the award.
Important: If you "Accept your Award", please forward to our Scholarship Administrator (1) the name and address of the college you will be attending and (2) your college Student ID number.
Important: If you "Decline your Award" or if you do not "Accept" the award before the Accept/Decline deadline, our Scholarship Committee will immediately and irreversibly redirect your scholarship award to the 1st Runner-Up candidate.
